Dear {{Person-Preferred}},

The University of Vermont community is thrilled to welcome you to the Catamount Family for the upcoming Fall 2026 semester! As you prepare for the exciting journey ahead, we want you to know that we are here to support you every step of the way. Throughout the summer, we will send you weekly emails to remind you of due dates, upcoming UVM events, exciting opportunities, and other helpful information.

To begin your process, we have created an individualized New Student Checklist containing many 'to-do' items and their respective due dates that must be completed before arriving on campus in August. We will add more items to your checklist in the upcoming months. To access your New Student Checklist, log in to your UVM Applicant Status page, and click the green 'View Your Checklist' button.

TO-DO ITEMS

Explore Off-Campus Housing Options

Most students who aren't required to live on-campus housing choose housing in the greater Burlington area, often within a short distance of UVM. Residential Life provides an option in a nearby apartment community, with many amenities and convenient bus service to campus. You can also explore off campus housing through the Office of Student and Community Relations which offers helpful resources, including the UVM Off-Campus Housing website, where you can browse available rentals and use the "Find a Roommate" feature.

Vote for the 2026 UVM Convocation T-shirt 🗳️

The Orientation Office wants to hear from YOU! Incoming students receive a free t-shirt to wear during the Convocation and Twilight Induction ceremonies. The t-shirt design is unique to your cohort and you have the opportunity to vote on the design. You must log in with your UVM email to access the form. Voting closes on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.

UPCOMING EVENTS 🗓️

New Student Insight Sessions (NSIS)

New Student Insight Sessions (NSIS) are a series of virtual sessions designed to introduce you to the many resources and support services available at UVM. Not all sessions will be relevant for off‑campus or transfer students, but many highlight important UVM resources for all students. Take a look through the list to see which sessions you’d like to attend.

The first session will be hosted on June 8th at 7:00 pm by Student Financial Services!

All sessions will take place virtually via Microsoft Teams or Zoom. Links to join will be emailed to you prior to each session and will also be available on our website.

New Student Orientation August 26 - 30, 2026

New Student Orientation is August 26-30, 2026 for all new first-year and transfer students joining the UVM community. Orientation starts at 3:00pm on both days. Most commuter and transfer students begin on August 27th, but if you prefer to start August 26th, please let us know!

During New Student Orientation, you'll be in a group with other students in your college. Later in the summer, we will reach out to see if you prefer to be in a group with other transfer and commuter students or a group of first-time college students. Throughout orientation, there will be specific events to help you make connections with peers, and important resources so you can start building your UVM community.

Family and Supporter Orientation

An optional in-person Family and Supporter Orientation program will be held on both move-in days. This event offers a warm welcome and helpful insights for families and supporters as students settle into life at UVM. Check out our Families and Supporters webpage for more details.
