IMPORTANT DEADLINES 📌

Health Insurance Decision Waiver due July 1

All UVM students are required to have health insurance. Each student must decide whether to enroll in UVM’s Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) or waive coverage if they are already covered under another plan.

After you meet with your advisor and your course registration is complete, you must complete the Annual Insurance Enrollment/Waiver Form in the MyWellbeing Portal to communicate your insurance decision to UVM. This form is required for all students, even if they do not plan to enroll in SHIP.

If you do not complete the form by July 1, you will be automatically enrolled in SHIP and billed for coverage. If your family has other insurance, the waiver form must still be submitted to avoid charges.

You can learn more about UVM's Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) here. If you have questions about SHIP please contact StudentInsurance@uvm.edu.

How will I get around at UVM? Transportation and Parking Info

Bikes and shadows

UVM encourages students to walk, bike, or use public transportation whenever possible. Campus and city buses are free for students and can get you to places like the grocery store, mall, airport, and train station.

UVM Bikes is a student-led bike co-op where you can learn how to keep your bike in tip-top shape or rent a bike for the academic year.

If you are planning to bring an electronic bike, scooter, or other e-micromobility device to UVM, please note that there are safety regulations for these devices and they can only be stored and charged in specific locations on campus. They are not allowed in Residence Halls.

Need a car occasionally? CarShare Vermont offers discounted memberships for UVM students.

First-year students living on campus are not eligible for parking permits (except for approved medical or employment needs). Commuter permits go on sale starting July 1.

For more information, visit the Transportation and Parking Services website.
