We have some exciting new student updates for you! Below, you'll find details about the newest items added to your New Student Checklist, an opportunity for free Darn Tough socks, and upcoming important July 1st deadlines.

Send Final Transcripts

A final transcript confirming the credits you are transferring to UVM should be sent directly to the Office of Transfer Affairs. Request your transcript from your previous institution, and they can send it either electronically via Parchment or by email to transfer@uvm.edu. 

Student Health Insurance Waiver/Enrollment due July 1st

All undergraduate students enrolled in at least nine credit hours are required to have health insurance. You can either enroll in UVM’s Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) or waive it by providing details about your existing health insurance policy. Please note: you must be registered for Fall 2026 courses before completing the online insurance decision/waiver form.

If your course registration is scheduled for after July 1st, you will be able to submit your insurance decision after you register. If you choose to waive SHIP at that time, the insurance charge will be removed from your billing statement.

Take a look at your New Student Checklist tomorrow to see the latest additions: 

- Vector Learning Modules: The Department of Student Life has assigned three online learning modules for you to complete. These learning modules, Understanding Alcohol and Other Drugs, Mental Wellbeing, Sexual Violence Prevention for Undergraduates, will help you prepare for life in our campus community. These interactive modules on Vector take between 45 and 90 minutes each and must be completed before August 14th.

- Pre-Enrollment Survey: Now that you’re part of the Catamount Community, help us get to know you by completing the Pre-Enrollment Survey by August 30th. Your responses will help us connect you with the right resources and support for your UVM journey.

Final Student Financial Services Items (if applicable)

- Set-Up Direct Deposit: There are many reasons why you may need to receive a refund from the University. For example, if you reduce or change your course schedule, adjust your meal plan, or if your financial aid exceeds your billed costs. Setting up direct deposit is required to receive your refund. Learn more about how to set up direct deposit in your student account and how financial aid refunds work.

- Loan Entrance Counseling: If you have accepted a Federal Direct Student Loan as a first-time borrower at UVM, you must complete Loan Entrance Counseling. This online requirement ensures you understand the loan terms and your responsibilities, and must be completed before the funds can be applied to your student account.

- Master Promissory Note: If you have accepted a Federal Direct Student Loan as a first-time borrower at UVM, you must complete the Master Promissory Note (MPN), a legal agreement to repay your loan. This step must be completed before the funds can be applied to your student account.

Upcoming New Student Insight Sessions

Tuesday, July 7th at 7pm ET - Pass the Mic: CAS Sophomores Tell Their Stories

Meet sophomores from the College of Arts and Sciences and hear about their experiences as first year UVM students. You don't have to be in CAS to attend this event! It's open to all incoming students. This will be an informal discussion, so bring your questions and don't be afraid to chime in!

No pre-registration is needed for NSIS - just join the link on the New Student Insight Sessions webpage when it's time by clicking on the session description. You may be asked to provide an email and name at login.

If you complete your Club Interest Survey, clubs will be alerted to your interest and get in touch when you arrive at UVM. You can also find many UVM clubs on Instagram which can be a great way to see what activities they have during the year.
