Dear {{Person-Preferred}},

The University of Vermont community is thrilled to welcome you to the Catamount Family for the upcoming Fall 2026 semester! As you prepare for the exciting journey ahead, we want you to know that we are here to support you every step of the way. Throughout the summer, we will send you weekly emails to remind you of due dates, upcoming UVM events, exciting opportunities, and other helpful information.

To begin your process, we have created an individualized New Student Checklist containing many 'to-do' items and their respective due dates that must be completed before arriving on campus in August. We will add more items to your checklist in the upcoming months. To access your New Student Checklist, log in to your UVM Applicatant Status page, and click the green 'View Your Checklist' button.

TO-DO ITEMS

Submit your Housing Contract ASAP

Housing and Meal Plan Contracts and roommate groups are due Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at 5:00 pm. If you would like to select your own roommate, you will need to submit their name(s) and NetID at the same time you submit your contract. Most students do not go through the housing selection process with a roommate group, so no worries if you have not found a roommate yet!

Contracts submitted after this date will not receive priority consideration for Learning Community placement, and roommate preferences/roommate groups cannot be accommodated. Access the contract via the UVM Housing Portal by selecting "Academic Year Housing Application."

Fall 2026 Move-In

New student move-in will take place on August 26 and August 27. University Housing will inform you of your Learning Community placement in early June via your UVM email. In June, you will participate virtually in the room selection process and choose a room within your assigned Learning Community. After your room selection is confirmed, University Housing will confirm your move-in date, either August 26 or August 27, via UVM email in July.

Move-in activities will conclude by 2:00 pm on your assigned day. We encourage your families and supporters to say goodbye by 2:30 pm so you can begin your New Student Orientation at 3:00 pm.

New Student Orientation August 26 - 30, 2026

New Student Orientation is August 26-30, 2026 for all new first-year and transfer students joining the UVM community. During New Student Orientation, you'll be in a group with other students in your Learning Community and your college. Throughout orientation, there will be specific events to help you make connections with peers, and important resources so you can start building your UVM community.

Family and Supporter Orientation

An optional in-person Family and Supporter Orientation program will be held on both move-in days. This event offers a warm welcome and helpful insights for families and supporters as students settle into life at UVM. Check out our Families and Supporters webpage for more details.
