Hi {{Lived-Mailing-Name}},

With each summer day, move-in and Orientation get a little closer! Whether you're finalizing your fall plans, connecting with future classmates, or soaking up some well-deserved downtime, you're one step closer to calling Burlington home.

Fun fact: Burlington's Lake Champlain is home to "Champ," a local lake monster legend that's been part of Vermont folklore for generations. Keep your eyes on the water because you never know what you might spot! πŸŒŠπŸ‘€πŸ‰

This week, we've gathered important reminders, upcoming deadlines, and resources to help you stay on track for a successful start at UVM. See what items are left on your New Student Checklist!

New Student Checklist

If you are having trouble accessing your checklist, reach out to Admissions at admissions@uvm.edu.

Plan Ahead for the Fall Semester

Planning to fly home for November break? Want to know when to book that Spring Break trip? Review the UVM Calendar for the 2026 -2027 school year. This calendar includes dates for the first/last day of classes, holidays/university closures, and more.

UVM offers a number of long-distance transportation options to help students get to and from campus, including shuttles to major regional airports and cities. You can review available options and schedules here.

Long Distance Travel Options

Residence halls close during certain academic breaks, so it's important to coordinate your travel plans accordingly.

***Course registration for Spring 2027 is happening the week before November break. For many of you, that means your registration will be on Friday, November 20. Please plan to stay on campus until your course registration is complete (plan to leave Friday after 4:30 or Saturday morning).

Pre-Orientation Program Openings!

UVM GO Community brings incoming students to campus three days early to move in and start to build your UVM connections! Have a great time while engaging in activities and community building in the greater Burlington area.

Each program highlights a unique aspect of Burlington and/or Vermont. Lead by a UVM Professor, your program might tour maple sugaring operations, check out the Burlington Arts scene, go sailing on Lake Champlain, or go for a day hike on a nearby mountain!

UVM GO programs are offered for every Residential Zone and all Learning Communities. All programs still have spots available! Visit our website to find out more!

What is Civic Engagement at UVM?

The Civic Engagement team in Student Life helps students connect with both the UVM and Burlington communities through service opportunities and civic learning.

If you have questions about updating your voter registration, registering to vote, or submitting your ballot, Civic Engagement is your nonpartisan campus resource. Throughout the fall, they will offer several opportunities to register to vote on campus, beginning with a Vote Tote Painting Party on September 2.

We also have a variety of civic engagement events planned, including:

🚐 A field trip to a Burlington City Council meeting
πŸ› A visit to the Vermont State Capitol in Montpelier
πŸ—³ A Midterm Voting 101 Q&A session
πŸ₯³ An Election Night Watch Party

Looking to get involved in community service? Join us at the Community Service Fair on September 15 or the RALLYTHON 5K (fundraiser for the local children's hospital) on October 3 to learn more about ways to make a difference.

You can find the office for Civic Engagement in the Davis Center, Room 310, or follow them on Instagram @uvm_ce for updates and opportunities throughout the year.
